Rare Forms of Mesothelioma

There are some rare forms of Mesothelioma of the pericardium that is seldom seen as a cardiac cancer. Echocardiography will detect the mass at a late stage by and the prognosis is very poor, even with therapy. Mesothelioma of the ovaries and the scrotum have been reported in literature, and the management will be different based on what stage of the disease. The etiology of the very few cases of mesothelioma in children remains unclear to this day, and is not believed to be related to asbestos. Therapy and prognosis will differ based on the individual.
